Real estate agents are among the key pillars of the real estate sector. They function as intermediaries, facilitating transactions between the builder and the buyer. As a result, it is of the utmost importance to have a structured organisation that will allow them to perform at their best while retaining high levels of trust and professionalism with their fellow developers and purchasers. All of these factors have been aided by the Rera Act 2016.
 

In accordance to the RERA Act of 2016, every real estate broker shall be compelled to register with the appropriate state-level regulating bodies. The authority will provide them a registration number that will remain valid for 5 years and can be renewed thereafter.
 

It has imposed certain rules on agents that must be followed. For example, the authority has the power to penalize brokers who make false statements about the project to the buyer. In addition, real estate agents are required to keep records of transactions for the projects in which they are involved and are fully responsible for doing so.
 

Real estate agents may register in one of two ways: As an individual or other than an individual.
 

The MahaRERA authority charges a registration fee of Rs.10,000 for agents who register as individuals or proprietors of proprietorship firms, and Rs.1 lakh for agents who register as partnership firms, societies, private limited/limited companies, LLPs, and so on.
